WordPress CareerCamp 2024

WordPress CareerCamp takes place in the ‘City of Joy’ as part of the GenNext Pilot Project. While the event’s model is similar to a WordCamp, its purpose is to connect attendees/job seekers with potential companies joining as sponsors or partners.

I missed the previous WordCamp due to COVID-19; it was canceled because of the pandemic, and afterward, I was too busy to attend.

When I learned about CareerCamp, I immediately booked tickets and had an interesting experience. I brought Andrea along, but I ended up boring her for most of it.

The event began with registrations, followed by breakfast. The food was surprisingly good; I wasn’t expecting it to be this nice! I thought it would be a small-scale seminar, but it was much more than that. There were interesting discussions, debates, speakers, and ideas shared.

There was an official WordPress stall that offered some super cool merchandise!

At the WordPress stall, I met two fantastic individuals offering a 75% discount. Without hesitation, I purchased a Creator Plan for my blog. My blog holds great significance as I share my life experiences and thoughts on it. The photos and memories on the site are crucial. Managing my blog on a slower hosting provider, where I do all the heavy lifting, made it challenging to focus on the stories I wanted to share and maintain timely updates. Additionally, I required ample storage for my photographs and videos. I migrated my blog to WordPress.com and redesigned it. The objective of these changes was to lower barriers to publishing and cultivate a space conducive to writing. The revamped design makes it easier for readers to navigate the website and read my blogs. The WordPress servers are super fast. Love it!

Overall, it was a fantastic day. I took a lot of photographs in front of every banner or standee that I could find! I caught up with some old friends whom I’d met at previous WordPress Meet-ups, left with a bag full of goodies, and am looking forward to the next big WordCamp Kolkata!
