SXC WordPress Workshop

On the 13th of November, 2024, I had the incredible opportunity to conduct a WordPress Workshop for 100 students at my alma mater, St. Xavier’s College, for the Postgraduate Department of Computer Science. It was a truly unique and fulfilling experience—standing in the very same classroom where I once sat as a student, this time as a teacher.

Spending nearly three hours teaching WordPress to a class that had no prior experience with the platform was both exciting and rewarding. What amazed me the most was how quickly the students picked up the core concepts, embracing WordPress with enthusiasm and creativity.

To challenge their newly acquired skills, I gave them 20 minutes to recreate a website from a preview I displayed. Not only did they rise to the challenge, but they also showcased their unique design perspectives. In the end, I selected a few outstanding designs, and the winners received free tickets to WordCamp, adding an extra layer of excitement to the event.

The experience was made even more special when I was felicitated by the college, and the students personally connected with me after the workshop, expressing their love for the session. Hearing Romit Beed, the professor heading the Student Council, mention that the students thoroughly enjoyed the workshop and would love to have me back was truly an honor.

What made the day even more memorable was that it coincided with a special personal milestone—our anniversary. After a lovely lunch, Andrea and I had headed to the workshop together, and later, we celebrated at home by cutting cake and cherishing our special day.

Looking back, it was an unforgettable experience—one that combined professional achievement, personal celebration, and the joy of giving back to my college. I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity and can’t wait to be back!
