Empowering Seniors Workshop: A Journey of Community Growth

It’s hard to believe that AngloNet has only been around for three months. I’m genuinely amazed at how far we’ve come as a community in such a short time. One of the most remarkable examples of this growth has to be the “Empowering Seniors Workshop” that we held on the 27th and 28th of July, 2024.

The idea for this workshop sprouted from the minds of a few enthusiastic members of our group—Elvina Carr, Shane Ching, Jill Williams, and Michelle Emmanuel. They wanted to create an event that would help our senior members, many of whom are retired or need support with their work and businesses. Their excitement was infectious, and before we knew it, plans were in motion.

In just a few days, they had everything figured out. Shane’s Dragon Ching and Jill’s Big Treats stepped up to sponsor the food, while Elvina’s The Haskalah Academy took the reins and conducted the entire workshop. The way they organised everything with such speed and precision was nothing short of impressive.

Unfortunately, I couldn’t be as involved in the process as I would have liked, as I was tied up with a lot of work. But I did manage to attend the two-day event, and I have to say, it was an absolute blast. The atmosphere was filled with fun and laughter, a true testament to the strength of our community. On the second day, we even celebrated Andrea’s birthday again, with everyone joining in to sing while Trevor played the guitar—it was a moment of pure joy.

What’s truly amazing to me is that this entire event unfolded without requiring much input or management from my side. It’s a clear sign of how far AngloNet has come as a community, where members are stepping up, taking charge, and making things happen. I’m so proud of what we’ve accomplished together, and I know that even bigger things are just around the corner.

Stay tuned for more empowering events and workshops from AngloNet, in partnership with The Haskalah Academy. And as always, don’t forget to like, comment, and subscribe for updates. We’re just getting started!
