Subject: Complaint Regarding Unprofessional Behavior at Itsy Bitsy Salt Lake Store
Store Location: Itsy Bitty, BG-34, 5th Cross Rd, BG Block, Sector II, Bidhannagar, Kolkata, West Bengal 700064
Dear Itsy Bitsy Management,
I am writing to formally raise a complaint regarding an incident that occurred at your Salt Lake store between 6–7 PM on the 23rd of July, 2025, approximately a month ago.
On the day of the incident, I was visiting the store along with my girlfriend and two friends. Previously, customers were allowed to bring bags inside the store without issue. However, during this visit, the security staff spoke rudely to my girlfriend and asked her to leave her tote bag, which contained valuable items such as an iPad, power bank, wallet, and other personal belongings, at the counter basket. She complied and left her bag there.
While waiting near her bag, she sat on a chair provided nearby. After approximately 15 minutes, the security personnel approached her again and rudely instructed her not to sit there. It is important to note that she had not even entered the store or browsed items at that time, because she was sitting near her bag while we were shopping to prevent her items from getting stolen as it was not secured.
This behavior seems highly unethical and inconsistent, especially when, at the same time, other customers with larger bags and backpacks were allowed inside without any issue.
I have several concerns regarding this incident:
- Bias and inconsistent enforcement – Why was my girlfriend singled out when other customers with larger bags were allowed inside?
- Lack of proper protocol – No tags or systems were provided for bags left at the counter, leaving valuable items unattended and at risk of theft. Who is responsible if anything had gone missing?
- Unprofessional behavior – The security staff displayed rude and untrained behavior, showing a lack of understanding and consideration for customers.
- Policy clarity – If bag restrictions exist, they should be communicated clearly and enforced consistently, with proper systems in place to protect customers’ belongings.
I request a thorough investigation into this incident and appropriate action to ensure such unprofessional behavior does not happen again. Customers should be treated with respect and fairness, and staff should be properly trained to handle such situations responsibly.
I look forward to your prompt response and resolution to this matter.
