My First Concert: Alan Walker’s Walker World Tour, Kolkata

Since I was a kid, I always dreamed of attending a concert. I remember when Michael Learns to Rock (MLTR) came to Kolkata, but I didn’t have the permission—or the money—to go. I was still in school back then. As I grew older and went to college, I often saw clips of Sunburn Festival and was mesmerized by the scale and energy of it. For those who know me, they’d tell you I’m not really a party person. But deep down, I always wanted to experience a Sunburn event. And finally, on September 27, 2024, that dream came true.

A couple of months before the concert, my friend Andrea pinged me at 1 AM, showing me screenshots of Alan Walker’s Kolkata concert tickets. My first thought? Damn, that’s expensive. But when I woke up the next morning, I had a moment of clarity—this was something I had wanted my whole life. It was now or never. Without overthinking, I just went ahead and booked two tickets. And let me tell you, it was the best decision ever. The concert fell just three days after my birthday, making it feel like an extended celebration.

The event took place at Biswa Bangla Mela Prangan, and stepping into the venue for the first time was a surreal experience. The hall was massive—almost like a giant aircraft hangar. It was surprising how much they managed to fit inside, from food stalls to massive stage setups. The best part? It was an indoor event, which was a huge relief given how rainy the week had been.

The show started with a few opening acts, but to be honest, I wasn’t too impressed with them. We were all just waiting for Alan Walker to take the stage. The anticipation built up as we waited for over three hours, slowly inching our way closer to the stage. We were in the general admission (GA) section, so when Alan finally came out, he looked like a tiny ant from where we stood—but none of that mattered once the music started.

And then… he entered. The energy, the lights, the beats—it was everything I had hoped for and more. Alan Walker was accompanied by two fantastic performers, Sofiloud and Robin Packalen, who added even more magic to the show. Hearing my all-time favorite songs like Faded, On My Way, Ignite, and The Spectre live, in front of me, was an unforgettable experience. The bass, the crowd, the visuals—it all felt surreal.

We stayed until around 11:30 PM, even though a few more acts were left. We decided to leave early to avoid the hassle of finding transport late at night.

As we made our way back home, I was still buzzing with excitement. And to top off an already perfect day, we ended the night with some delicious Arsalan mutton biryani.

Attending Alan Walker’s concert was a dream come true. It was more than just music—it was an experience, a celebration, and a memory I’ll cherish forever. For anyone who’s been contemplating going to their first concert—don’t hesitate. Just book the tickets and go. You won’t regret it.
